Dear Miss Pownall,
I strongly believe that we should not have a dog in the classroom because the dog may distract kids while doing their work, some kids may be scared of dogs and the dog may get hurt because the children might get excited to see Charlie and then they’ll start screaming and be rough to Charlie.
Firstly, Charlie could distract kids while they are doing their work.
A lot of people think that dogs are cute, sometimes kids will pet animals while they're supposed to be doing their work and they will get distracted and might get told off for not getting their work done. For example I was doing homework at home and my dog came up to me and distracted me from doing my work. Also studies show that during class dogs can be an amazing learning tool but they can also be a big distraction.
Secondly, some kids may be scared of dogs and may not feel safe around them. Kids could get anxiety when they are around dogs or when dogs are coming close to them. For example one of my friends has a big fear of dogs, she gets anxiety whenever a dog comes close to her and touches her.
Finally, kids around the school might see Charlie and get excited to see him and be too rough to him. Charlie could get too excited and hurt some kids. Studies say that if there are too many kids around one dog the dog could get too excited and hurt some of the kids.
In Conclusion I strongly believe that we should not have a dog in the classroom because of these three reasons Some kids may get distracted, some kids might be scared of dogs and we might hurt the dog and the dog might hurt us. Thank you for listening to my argument.
Yours sincerely,
Jen.
